Several weeks ago, Rock & Ice magazine alerted me to the fact that Louis Vuitton now sells a chalk bag. It's a kind of curious piece of outdoor gear to bring into the fashion world. While the easy-to-access drawstring top makes in handy on the crags, but I wonder about its practicality in everyday situations.
Given the bag's size, 4.72 x 6.69 x 4.33 inches, according to the website, I imagine it can only fit a few essential items - keys, cell phone, credit card, sunglasses. The bag features "contemporary practical details" along with the distinctive Louis Vuitton logo. It's made of white leather and will set you back $1,590.
A $3,000 LV backpack is also available. It too comes in white leather, but it's a bit bigger than the chalk bag so I imagine it's a more useful piece.
New Gear Shop Coming to Bozeman!
A while back (http://annvinciguerra.blogspot.com/2016/01/where-have-all-gear-shops-gone.html) I lamented over the lack of technical gear shops in Bozeman. If all goes as planned, that will change come the fall. Uphill Pursuits, a store focusing on backcountry skiing, climbing, and trail running, is scheduled to open in the Cannery District. A web search didn't reveal much but I was able to sign up for their email list on their website, so I'll report back when I hear more. Keep your fingers crossed!
