Another food first for the A-List. Earlier in the month I checked out Ramire’s Mexican Food Truck.

Food truck seem to be "everywhere" these days in Bozeman, and folks have been talking about the proliferation of them along North 7th Avenue. A few Sunday's ago, I decided to go check one out. I discovered three and decided on Ramire’s Mexican Food Truck.

Ramire’s is in Midtown Bozeman, an area that the city has long been trying to revitalize. You can find them next to the Mattress King on the corner of North 7th and Villard Avenues where they share the location with another food truck, Hashi Asian Street Food (Open at 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturday.)

It’s busy 7th Avenue location, not far from a slew of low-slung buildings housing pawn shops and motor lodges, is as "rough-around-the-edges" as it gets in Bozeman, and while it is far from sketchy, the area is not all put together and polished to a dull perfection like much of new Bozeman. It’s a contrast for sure and in a way, a refreshing change.

I ordered the California burrito (Potatoes and steak) for $9.25. It was a hearty portion, and I was a touch full when I finished. As far as burritos go, this one was very good. Boasting a nice blend of flavors, it came tightly rolled and didn't disintegrate into a mess when eating it - a nice touch. The best part was the green and red dipping sauces that came with it. The green was mildly spiced with a bit of tartness while the red was hot but not overpowering. Together they made an intriguing hot/cool combo, which I love. Overall, a great burrito but not a rock-your-world, best-ever.

Atmosphere was lively with a stream of people coming and going. Rows of picnic tables were set up on a bed of rocks in a parking lot and several groups were sitting at the picnic tables when I was there on an unseasonably warm afternoon. People speaking Spanish worked at the truck and provided quick, efficient service, and the crowd was a mix of ages and personalities; a few 20 somethings with dogs on ropes talking about the previous raucous night out, more Spanish speakers among the dining crowd, and a smattering of folks that didn’t fit into one tidy category. It was a nice cross-section of the Bozeman community and a pleasant place to enjoy a simple meal.

Ramire’s food truck is worth checking out. As always, remember to bring your own dining utensils when you go to a food truck.

If You Go...

Find Them At – 319 North 7th Avenue in mid-downtown Bozeman or Facebook.

What We Know – Not much. They don’t have a lot of online ratings but they’re all very high. (On Yelp, 7 out of 7 reviewers gave them five stars). No write-ups or profiles could be found during a Google search.

Try It If... You’re looking for something tasty, quick, and inexpensive.

Portion Size – Healthy portions but not overly huge.

Price Point – Inexpensive for Bozeman.

The Verdict – The A-List approves. A casual dining experience with a matching price-point.
