Sunday Morning at Rockford Coffee |
It's a peaceful Sunday morning in downtown Bozeman. Fall leaves litter the street, sidewalks are wet after last night's storm and small piles of snow linger.
Cars line Main Street and people come and go. Enough activity to feel lively but not so much to feel mobbed and unpleasant.
It's that time of year when trails are muddy and getting snow covered - enough slop to make for unpleasant walking but not enough snow for skiing. 14" fell in the Bridgers last night and I'm sure that some folks have headed up to try to squeeze in a few early season turns. There needs to be a small storm or two more before I slap skis on my feet so today I'll settle for a mellow morning followed by an afternoon run.
I settle into a window street at Rockford to enjoy a cappuccino. Across the street from me the old Native American art gallery, next door to Lulu Lemon, is being transformed into a VOORMI shop. This company is based in Pagosa Spring, Colorado and the Bozeman store is its second. VOORMI makes wool clothing including $69 tank-tops and a mid-weight jacket "that’s as suitable for the backcountry as it is the front office."
Their clothing looks decent enough but doesn't appear to be much different than other clothing found in outdoor shops. Prices are bit spendy but so is most outdoor oriented clothing. VOORMI don't have a large variety, but perhaps the appeal of a small brand will draw Bozemanites to it. We'll see how it does.
